Lucifer, Skinner, Honeywell, Goldring, Scem, Sporlan. How did all these well known brands come together in one place?
It all began in 1918 in the USA when Arthur L Parker formed an innovative new company which he called the “Parker Appliance Company.” He began with designing and manufacturing hydraulic solenoid valves and hydraulic cylinders and soon progressed to include pneumatic solenoid valves and pneumatic cylinders.
Fast forward to 1969 and change was in the air. It was decided that to be able to fully take advantage of the changing business opportunities available the company needed to change too. The company was restructured and a new Corporate formed “The Parker Hannifin Corporation".
“Parker” became adept at recognising new opportunities and the ensuing years saw much progress.
In time “Parker” saw the need to expand into solenoid valves and so in 1997 Parker Hannifin Corporation purchased the Honeywell Inc.’s solenoid valve manufacturing facilities and sales rights worldwide. This meant that “Parker” now owned the large Honeywell Skinner & Honeywell Goldring factories in the USA; the Honeywell Lucifer factory in Switzerland plus Honeywell's Solenoid Valve assembly operation in New Zealand.
Since then, other Solenoid Valve manufacturing facilities have been acquired and added from Italy, Korea, China and other countries as well.
Those acquisitions have made Parker Hannifin one of, if not the biggest world-wide manufacturer and provider of solenoid valves for a vast range of applications.
The marketing of solenoid valves in over 50 countries through Parker Hannifin Branches; authorised distributors; and "Parker Stores" has seen the company turnover increase to 13 Billion US Dollars and the employment of 57,000 employees.
If you are looking for any of the above Parker valves in New Zealand for use in hydraulics, air, gas, oil, water, diesel, steam, vacuum and for some chemical applications, then you should call HWL Group (Hydraulic Wholesalers Limited). HWL stock common valves on the shelf and being centrally located in Hamilton can reach a large part of the North Island with same day courier deliveries. Those cities and towns which don’t have same day delivery are reached via overnight courier.
